Woodley and Lower Earley Libraries are looking for Digital Skills Volunteers to support residents with basic digital queries. Volunteers will be trained by our Digital Skills team to assist with the queries listed below; how do I use a computer, tablet, or mobile phone?
How do you find and use information on the internet?
How do I access and use email?
How do you I communicate socially and professionally using email, messaging, and social media?
We are looking for volunteers able to give two hours once a month at their chosen library site.
WBC Libraries are amenable to scheduling sessions to suit volunteer availability. All volunteers are supported by both the libraries and digital skills teams.
Please note all applicants must be 21 and over to apply for this role.
Do you like being part of a team, getting fresh air and helping people in need? If so, then the Green ‘n’ Tidy gardening scheme could be the volunteer role for you.
Green ‘n’ Tidy provides a basic gardening service for elderly and disabled residents of Wokingham Borough who cannot maintain their own properties, do not have local family support and/or lack the financial resources to employ commercial companies.
This project does not compete with established gardening businesses as we are a charity and the team of volunteers provides basic gardening, including lawn mowing, hedge trimming and weeding, to vulnerable people in need. In order to help far more clients across Wokingham Borough, we are expanding our scheme.
To be able to do this, we need more help.
We are looking for volunteers to help an average of one morning per week, although we can be flexible with this, if you can only help two or three mornings per month for example. Our teams go out six days a week (Mondays to Saturdays) usually 9am to 1pm approximately and you can sign up to a regular day.
At the moment, Fridays are a day which we need more help on, but please do get in touch if you are free on any day.
You do not need to be a skilled gardener, just be willing to get stuck in.
The Boys’ Brigade is the oldest uniformed youth organisation in the country.
We promote habits which leads young people to be good all round citizens, through an extensive programme. It is rewarding and an honour to watch five-year-old shy children grown into confident young adults, ready to play their part in society.
The 1st Woodley BB welcomes volunteers of all backgrounds, ages, cultures, faiths and abilities.
We are flexible, and volunteering can be arranged to fit around a busy lifestyle. We need volunteers to help children with activities, games, sport, arts and crafts, hobbies, music etc.
Whatever you can help with is greatly valued.
We are more in need for volunteers in our younger sections, which meet on Wednesday evenings. Anchors meet from 6pm to 7pm and are made up of boys five to eight. Juniors meet from 6.30pm to 8pm and are made up of boys aged eight to 11 years.
The beauty of volunteering with the BB is that you can be flexible, and if you can only help out once a month, or even once a year at the annual camp then we are happy to welcome you.
We don’t need any particular skills, just an attitude that is positive about children and young people, or as we say, have faith in young people. Of course, if you do have skills you can bring then fantastic.
However, we value every volunteer just as we value every child and young person. A fantastic opportunity to help and make a real difference for people and communities.
