Do you have experience volunteering or working with children, young people or people with special needs and disabilities?
Or perhaps you are simply an enthusiastic and motivated person who would like to give some time and work in a fun, inspiring and fulfilling environment.
You could help Camp Mohawk to support our children, young people and families by volunteering with us.
Camp Mohawk is a daytime play/activity centre for children and young people with special needs and their families.
Set in five acres of woodland near Wargrave, we have a range of outdoor and indoor facilities and we support children of all ages.
Our children and young people have a huge range of special needs including Autistic Spectrum Disorders and other neurodivergences, developmental, genetic and inherited conditions.
We support whole families so we also have plenty of siblings who come to play so it is a truly inclusive environment.
We are always looking for committed people to join our team to help us support the 650+ families who benefit from Camp Mohawk’s services each year.
If you could spare some time on Saturdays, weekday evenings or during school holidays we would be delighted to talk to you about how you could help.
What would you be doing? Our volunteers are primarily here to help our children, young people and their parents/carers to get the maximum enjoyment out of their visits. This means that you would primarily be engaging with children to help them have fun and stay safe as they navigate our facilities, enabling their parents/carers to spend time with their other children or sit down for a cup of tea and a chat.
Lots of our children find socialising with their peers a bit tricky, so encouraging them and, where appropriate, helping them to interact positively with each other is a key priority. If you have a particular skill or interest that might complement our existing facilities/activities (for example crafting, music, nature activities etc) we are always open to volunteers leading workshops and short, simple activities that our families can get involved with.
Volunteers need to be 18 years plus.
At First Days we give choice, restore dignity and empower families who are living with a low income or are experiencing financial hardship.
We are currently in need of help on our reception for a Tuesday and a Friday plus ideally someone who can cover ad hoc (holidays and sickness). Timing required is 9.30am-1pm and/or 1pm-4.30pm for both days.
Volunteers must be IT literate and have excellent communication skills. Our offices are based in Wokingham, just off Molly Millars Lane.
The Link Visiting Scheme is a charity dedicated to reducing the serious impact of loneliness in Wokingham Borough.
We believe the best way to do that is through friendship and helping people feel connected to their community.
We rely on our amazing volunteers to enhance the lives of those experiencing loneliness and isolation by making regular home visits.
We ask you to give one or two hours per week or per fortnight, to be that friendly face and listening ear.
We’ll make sure you’ve got all the support and training you need and answer any questions you might have along the way.
If you are interested in any of these roles or would like to discuss volunteering in general, please get in touch with our Volunteer Services Manager, Helena Badger on 0118 977 0749 or email [email protected]. To see all of our volunteering roles, please visit www.volunteerwokinghamborough.org.uk
