The Citizens Advice Bureau gives free, confidential advice on every subject from debt, benefits, housing and employment, to law, immigration and discrimination.

It is independent and gives advice in an unbiased way. The Wokingham Citizens Advice Bureau is recruiting for several new volunteers. These include; Admin Support, Assessors, Advisers, Fundraisers and Receptionists/Customer Service volunteers. Please contact us for more information if you are interested in any of these roles.

The South Central Ambulance Charity run the Wokingham Community First Responders – a group of volunteers who are trained by to preserve life and promote recovery in an emergency situation, by getting to the patient before the ambulance arrives.

Community First Responders (CFRs) use lifesaving skills, such as the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED), to provide early and often vital intervention for patients suffering life threatening emergencies in the immediate vicinity of where they live or work. Once an ambulance crew arrives at the scene, CFRs work alongside a clinically qualified practitioner. Volunteers do not need previous first aid experience as full training is provided.  Volunteers must a driving licence and access to a car and be willing to commit to 20 hours per month.

Sebastian’s Action Trust walks alongside families of life-limiting and seriously-ill children from diagnosis through treatment and beyond. They are looking to recruit Volunteer Befrienders who can offer practical, social and emotional support to the families and children.

This may include driving them to appointments, helping with homework, going to activities with them or just being a good listener. Volunteers help out when they can and must be caring and friendly. The nature of the need of the families means that this sort of volunteering is not for everyone, so we offer training and ongoing support.

The Royal Voluntary Service run a coffee shop at Wokingham Hospital which serves patients, families, outpatients and staff.

They are looking for volunteers to serve customers, make drinks and toast, restock and use the till. The volunteer on the 2pm-4pm shift will need to do some cleaning up as well. Shifts available are Monday 12pm-2pm, Tuesday 2pm-4pm, Wednesday 9.30am-12pm, Thursday 12pm-2pm and 2pm- 4pm.
