Keith Baker, Conservatives
My wife and I have lived in Reading Road for over 25 years with 3 married children and two amazing granddaughters. Retired some 6 years ago after over 30 years in the IT world I decided to devote my “free time” to serve the people of Woodley. Woodley is an amazing place to live and work.
I have been your Borough Councillor for 12 years and have worked on many residents’ issues over that time. I strongly believe councillors should communicate regularly with residents all year round and not just at election time.
As Leader of the Town Council I have overseen some major leisure developments in the town with more to come. I continue to fight for investment from the Borough to maintain the quality of life we all deserve.
Paul Barton, Liberal Democrats
Paul has been a Woodley resident for 40 years. He is a past Woodley town councillor. He is particularly interested in the care sector. A chartered accountant, he is Honorary Treasurer of a Reading care home, so has first-hand knowledge of the challenges in the sector.
Ian Hills, Labour
Ian has lived in Woodley for 40 years. He is married with three grown-up children and two grandchildren.
Ian is retired having previously worked for British Airways for over twenty years where he undertook a variety of Human Resources jobs including that of Human Resources Manager.
Ian was one of the original instigators of Woodley Labour’s successful campaign to ensure Woodley Town Council listened to the demands of residents and replaced the lost public toilet in the precinct.
Ian believes the toilet would have been built much, much earlier if Tory councillors had simply listened to residents.
If elected as a councillor, Ian will be listening.
Ian recently hosted one of the discussion groups at the bus public meeting held at the Oakwood Centre.
Ian said afterwards, “It was not a surprise to me that so many people are angry and dismayed at the loss of the 19a and 19c. The bus performed a vital function and its loss has made many lives much worse.”
