This year’s candidates

Jack Beresford, Conservatives
Jack Beresford grew up in Wokingham and attended local infant, junior and secondary schools.
He lives in Emmbrook Ward and works for “The Challenge”, a social integration charity working with the nation’s schools and young people.
Jack is particularly interested in addressing the recent spike in anti-social behaviour that has occurred in South Emmbrook.
He is keen to address traffic and transport issues affecting residents, and will work to ensure that education in the borough remains at high standards. Jack believes that building a strong local community with more resident associations will enable residents and the police to collaborate in maintaining public safety.

Peyman Jahromi, Labour
Peyman Jahromi has lived in Wokingham for 8 years and has a child at St. Crispin’s School.
Peyman is disabled, a law graduate and an Associate of CILEX.
He has been a political and human rights activist for more than 30 years.
“I am passionate about social justice. As a disabled person I would like the Council to do more to recognise the needs of disabled and elderly people who can feel neglected. As a father I am concerned about the reduction in funding for education. I believe that a Councillor should be available and transparent to residents and has to reflect their concerns.”
Peyman would like to hear your concerns and points of view on any issue.

Imogen Shepherd-Dubey, Liberal Democrats
Imogen was born & brought up in Wokingham. She is a strong believer in listening to the public & ensuring that everyone’s views are taken into account on matters that affect their lives & community.
She has only been a Wokingham Borough Councillor since the by-election last year, but within that time she has been effective at getting some positive changes to Wokingham & the Emmbrook area. This includes improved signage for the 20Mph Zones around our schools, better parking facilities for disabled people at Carnival Pool and successfully applied pressure to get free overnight & Sunday parking returned to Wokingham Town Centre.
“I want more to be done to tackle Wokingham Borough Council overspending and escalating debt. We need our money to be spent on Schools, roads, and care for the elderly, but the local Conservatives have allowed spending on projects like Wokingham Town Centre Regeneration to get out of control, On top of that they have destroyed the public park of Elms Field, cutting down trees that were part of our heritage. We cannot allow this behaviour to continue”
Professionally she works in the IT Industry with various companies across the UK. This gives her a good insight into how business works at all levels plus a a good understanding of their needs.
