At the Wokingham Wade Day Centre, there’s a wonderful variety of activities and entertainment available for everyone that comes. Upon arriving for the day, you’ll be treated to a delicious two-course hot meal, followed by a delightful afternoon tea. But it’s not just about the food – there’s a wide array of exciting activities to keep you and your friends entertained and engaged throughout the day.
One of the highlights is the singing sessions, where you get to pick the songs you want to sing! With Soph, an incredible singer, joining you, it’s a fun and uplifting way to spend time.
If you enjoy animals, you’re in for a treat – we regularly host visiting animals and a therapy dog. We’ve had rabbits, pigs, owls and more, bringing some extra joy to your day.
For those looking to relax, our TV lounge offers a cosy space to watch films, comedy shows, or for just reading the papers. There’s something for everyone and always people about to make sure you’re never lonely.
Staying active is also a priority, so we offer armchair tai chi and movement-to-music classes designed to help you maintain mobility and balance as you age gracefully!

We also have creative workshops where talented artists come in to guide you through painting, flower arranging and craft-making, allowing you to express yourself through art.

In addition, we’re often visited by a variety of singers and dancers who put on fantastic performances. For those who need a little pampering, our hairdressing and podiatrist services are available, ensuring you feel your best with well-maintained nails and hair.
Sandy Sweet, our Vice Chair, is responsible for curating this wonderful entertainment program. She emphasizes how Wade is a great place to meet new people, enjoy high-quality entertainment, and participate in activities tailored to our members’ interests. “Our members can also suggest activities they’d like to see,” says Sandy, making Wade an inclusive and dynamic place to be.
Here is an example of the programme we have had this month – look on our website each month for our entertainments programme and lunch menu – www.wadecentre.org.uk or call on 0118 978 7025 to book to come in.
