WHAT’S BREWING? Enjoy street food weekends at Siren Tap Yard

Last summer, we introduced Street Food Saturdays at the Tap Yard. Initially, we were going to be doing it for a few weeks over the summer, but the popularity has grown to the point that not only are we doing it every week, we added Sundays as well.

The Tap Yard has swiftly become a go-to destination for the weekend, and we love to see it. We get a huge variation in crowds coming down, from families with kids and dogs out to enjoy some games in the sun, to beer aficionados, to groups of cyclists and everyone in between.

Last week we even had a group visiting from Mensa… all the smartest people head to the Tap Yard for the weekend, that proves it.

As Street Food weekends have grown in popularity, we wanted to make sure we had a food offering throughout the week as well, thus the addition of our new Pizza kitchen. Our pizzas are served fresh to order from 12 – 7 on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. You can read more about them here.

We wanted to tell you a bit more about the street food we’ve had, and got coming up at the Tap Yard. If you’ve not yet come down, we don’t want you to miss out.

Around the world in 80 vendors

Our Street Food offering has seen food inspired from places all over the world. We’ve seen styles such as Jamaica Jerk, Mexican, Curries, Noodles, Pizza and Pasta, Malaysian, American style Mac n Cheese and even a good old Roast served in a rolled-up Yorkshire pudding.

We love seeing people enjoying a variety of styles, spices and flavours and it’s always interesting to try and create some food and beer pairings to that day’s food.

There’s been too many favourites to mention, there hasn’t been a Saturday or Sunday where everyone hasn’t been amazed by the food, but I asked some of our staff what their favourites have been:

Ruben

Hogless Roast – “These guys changed my vision on vegan food… it can be absolutely full of flavour and so good. Vegan food rocks!”

Amber

Need Street Food – “It’s a meat roll dipped in Gravy, what’s not to love!? Oh, maybe actually Gourmet Cheese Toasties… Can I choose two? Or three?”

Dean

Jackalopes – “I remember Jackalopes sorting us some Mac n Cheese at a Tea Festival we took Yu Lu to… As soon as they came to the Tap Yard I was there. Maple Bacon Mac n Cheese for the win!”

Tim

Killa Waffles – “I live a bit further away so it’s not always easy to be at the Tap Yard on the weekends… but no way was I missing this. A fresh cooked and rolled waffle cone stuffed with mac n cheese and buttermilk fried chicken bits… oh good lord.”

Sam

The Woozy Pig – “There’s too many to choose from, but I did love the Hot Dogs at Barista Project. Those things were huge and so so tasty. That… or any of the pizzas!”

Coming Up

We’ve got a full schedule in the planner and we’re constantly adding new vendors to the list. If you know someone you’d like to see, or you’re a vendor yourself then get in touch!

If you’re not already, follow our Tap Yard Twitter and Instagram accounts, or join the Facebook Group for news of upcoming food, activities and beer releases at the Tap Yard.

This weekend is Demaine Artisan and The Big Butty Bar – both shown below. With a fresh batch of 4.8% Session IPA, Medjuica, also now in the Tap Yard, don’t miss out!

Did you know?

We first had ‘Salchipapa’ down to the Tap Yard for Sessions and Sours in 2018, serving up their take on Latin American inspired Sausage and Chips. They’ve since opened up a permanent residence, Rocoto, 2 minutes from Aldgate Station in London, serving up Peruvian food. Not only that, they have Soundwave and Santo on permanent keg lines, with Yu Lu and Broken Dream in the fridges!
