A vacant film studios that went into administration last year could be demolished.
Winnersh Midco SARL has applied to Wokingham Borough Council to demolish Winnersh Studios in Winnersh Triangle Business Park.
The film studios , owned by Stage Fifty, went into administration last April following the 2023 writers and actors strikes in the United States.
It was a popular location for Hollywood blockbusters including Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire.
Plans submitted to the council show two temporary buildings, referred to as the 1100 and 1040 series, would be demolished.
These hosted sound stages, workshops and switch rooms.
The 1100 series consists of 5,400 square meters of floorspace that was used for film, video and sound recording purposes.
Accessed via Eskdale Road, it is surrounded by offices, a sports hub and an all weather pitch.
Site 1040 is under the same use and sits close by to the Crown Plaza hotel as well as other offices.
Planning consultants Turley wrote to the council: “Consideration is being given to the future development options for the site, which will support the long term strategic function of the business park in the long term and provide flexible employment floorspace to meet market demands.”
A demolition statement says the site will be left in a ‘flat, level and tidy condition’ with all waste material moved.
Wokingham Borough Council has validated the plans and a decision is yet to be made.
