Friday night is music night for the Wokingham Festival – and beer night too. Oh, and street food. In fact, Friday night is the perfect night for festivalgoers to come along, have fun and enjoy a great evening out.
Doors open at 6pm and the bar, which is run by volunteers from Twyford Beer Festival, will be serving a mixture of real ales, perries and ciders from local breweries and beyond.
You’ll find old favourites from Binghams and Loddon breweries and discover some beers you’ve probably never heard of before but will want to find again.
If beer isn’t your cup of tea, well, the cocktail bar will be.
A team of mixologists from The Redan bar in Peach Street will be creating a wonderful array of concoctions in their own special tent.
And there will be plenty of stalls serving a wide range of tasty food throughout the evening.
6.30pm Goliath
Friday night’s music launches with a set from Goliath at 6.30pm, an indie-rock five-piece band whose debut was memorable as they shared the stage with The Lightning Seeds.
Following headline gigs throughout London and South England they headed international at La Ferme du Rock (Picardy, France) in June 2010 and headlined the Fete de la Musique in Brive, France in 2011 and 2012.
Their debut album, Join the Ride, was released in June 2017, which is available on iTunes, Amazon Music and Spotify.
8pm The Eric Street Band
The second act is local boys The Eric Street Band. They’ll be live from 8pm and will be playing a mixture of songs. They recently released a new album, Purple Passage – a mixture of blues, soul, rock and country.
There will be lots of fun and surprises during their set, and they will be a hit with many.
9.30pm The Bronsons
Then, from 9.30pm, The Bronsons will be performing.
The high-energy garage rock rhythm and blues band playing a 50/50 mix of original material and obscure covers. Their influences range from 60’s beat, rhythm and blues and garage rock bands, through to Dr Feelgood, Eddie & the Hot Rods, The Count Bishops, The Inmates and Lew Lewis.
Originally an 80s band, they reformed in 2013 with a new bass player and new Bronsonettes.
Entry for Friday evening is £7, and weekend tickets (Friday-Sunday) are also available tonight for £15.
