Saturday is a busy day at the Wokingham Festival, as the family friendly weekend gets into full swing.
After Friday’s crowd-pleasing music and beer evening, the food stalls open, the exhibition area gets underway and there is a whole world to discover without leaving Cantley Field.
Gates open at 11am and if you arrive before noon you can get in for free. Otherwise entry is £7 for adults and accompanied under 18s get in free.

Noon East Berkshire Operatic Society
The local theatre group, which rehearses at Pinewood, will be presenting a selection of songs from shows. Its recent productions include Chess, Boogie Nights, Little Shop of Horrors and Company.
It will be back next month with I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change, while its big autumn show is The Wizard of Oz in November.
12.30 Reading Barberettes
The second Saturday act is an a cappella harmony group who will perform from their a wide repertoire of popular and seasonal songs. The Reading Barberettes recently won Let’s Sing Reading and will bring a bit of fun to the lunchtime session.
1.15 Simon Williams

Local musician Simon Williams runs open mic nights at Broad Street Tavern and The Emmbrook Inn, but is also a highly regarded performer in his own right.
With more than 15 years’ gigging experience, including regular stints at the Formula One Grand Prix at Silverstone, he knows how to work a crowd.
2.5 All Things Considered
Folk group All Things Considered are a five-piece band led by vocalist Emma Baldwin offer a bold sound fused with wide musical influences that makes them both a distinctive, yet very accessible act.
Steve Lamacq hailed them a ‘talented young folk band’, top folk music website Folking.com said they perform ‘effortlessly beautiful songs with real feeling’.
3.10 Backwoods Creek
Backwoods Creek is a sometimes six piece sometimes two piece (which is what they’ll be today) Country Rock band hailing from Surrey, UK, that brings a fresh, modern and exciting take on the genre in a place that it has not been mainstream for years.
With their distinct blend of hook-filled choruses and boot stomping grooves they will no doubt have you singing, drinking and dancing.
4.15 Apache Kites

Apache Kites are a Bracknell based trio of experienced musicians playing rousing covers of 60s classics.
The band includes ex-members of Sham 69, Moonboot Oz and The Magic Mushroom Band, bringing their respective influences together to form their unique “paisley punk” sound and engaging stage presence.
5.30pm Alexandra Legouix and The Sunflowers
Alexandra Legouix and The Sunflowers have created a sophisticated but accessible fusion of latin, jazz and pop influences. We make music that people can relate to on many different levels… think about it… chill to it… dance to it… and more!
6.45pm Selina and the Howlin Dogs
Selina and the Howlin Dogs is a 4-piece playing a fusion of funk, rock and hip hop original music. Based in Reading the members have been playing their funky homebrew since 2002 – and they’ve even been found jamming live on radio BBC Berkshire with Matt Allwright.
8pm The Steve Summers Band
Steve has played in a number of bands, but the Blues has been Steve’s inspiration throughout his career. Steve has toured the world as a musician, and shared the stage with many household names.
The group are making a welcome return to Wokingham Festival.
9.30pm The Average Chalky White Band
The Average Chalky White Band are a Dynamic 9-Piece band with horn section playing up-tempo soul, funk, and rock.
Classic songs by the greats such as Stevie Wonder, James Brown, Wilson Pickett, Bruno Mars, The Stones, Van Morrison, Blur, The Average White Band and Madness all receive the ACWB’s unique treatment – and will get you moving and dancing.
