A GROUP of growing enthusiasts showed off the fruits of their labours, along with a wide array of vegetables and flowers they had grown in the borough.
Open to the public, Wokingham Horticultural Association’s autumn show attracted a good number of visitors.
Prize winning gardeners received awards for their green entries from Wokingham town mayor, councillor Sally Gurney, who visited the show with her consort, Chris Cooke.
Chair Lindsey Payne said: “It all went very well.
“We had lots of new exhibitors, and plenty of new visitors too.
“I was especially pleased that one lady visited from quite far away in Englefield Green.
“She had travelled by train and bus to get here, having heard the show advertised on Radio Berkshire.
“I was chuffed to bits at the effort she had made to join us.
“We gave her one of the floral table displays as she left, to say thank you.”
Ms Payne says that putting on the group’s events can be hard work.
“So much effort goes into these shows,” she said.
“We rely on everyone who helps to make them successful.
“Without the fabulous team, the exhibitors, and the visitors, there would be no show.”
Wokingham town mayor, councillor Sally Gurney enjoyed the enthusiasm, skills and energy displayed by the exhibitors, and was pleased to award the winners with their cups and trophies.
