Wokingham in Bloom had a hugely successful year in the RHS Thames & Chiltern Regional Bloom Competition – winning overall best town and accompanying Silver Gilt award.
A number of local projects showcased as part of the entry received high praise, and their own individual awards, with some receiving national recognition.
Councillor Morag Malvern, chair of the Wokingham in Bloom committee said: “Wokingham in Bloom isn’t about winning for us, but it is wonderful for our volunteers to be recognised for all their hard work delivering everything from projects which bring communities together to enhancing our town centre and parks. They really do us proud.
“With funding received from both Wokingham Town Council and sponsors, wildlife and conservation projects come to life and unloved areas become welcoming and vibrant. This enables us to create spaces where residents can come together and nature can thrive.
“Let’s not forget camaraderie, companionship, and the health and wellbeing of not just volunteers, but residents who use the newly created areas and enhanced public spaces.
“New volunteers are always welcome, however much or little time they have.”
Will Monk, principal Wokingham in Bloom sponsor and Director of SecureHeat, added: “What an amazing clutch of awards for Wokingham in Bloom.”
