WHEN it comes to good health, Wokingham borough is the place to be. A new survey places it as the sixth healthiest town in the country.
Now Patient did some number crunching, and gave us an overall healthy score of 8.14 out of 10. The figure comes from five rankings: obesity rates, the percentage of adults who eat their fiive-a-day and are classified as physically active, as well as the average life expectancy in each area, the percentage of smokers and the areas with the most gym-related Google searches.
Wandsworth was top with a score of 8.75, in second place there was Rutland, followed by Richmond, York and Kingston.
In Wokingham, just over a fifth (22.4%) of residents were classed as obese, more than a third (33.6%) had their five-a-day, more than two-thirds (69.6%) were physically active, the average life expectancy is 83.96 years, and one in 13 (7.5%) people smoke.
There were 1,274 residents searching for gym per 10,000 people.
All of this gave Wokingham borough a healthy score of 8.14.
Reading, while not in the top 10, did have the highest number of gym-related searches: 3,141 per 10,000 people.
