COLLEAGUES from a Wokingham law firm are putting their best foot forward in a big to stamp out cancer.
During March, the team from Denmark Street-based CP Law are aiming to walk 10,000 steps every day. Not only will they get fitter in process, but they are being sponsored by friends, family and members.
Team members are wearing trackers so that their movements can be tracked and these are being posted on the company’s Facebook page.
Frances Stafford, an administrator for the company, is behind the scheme.
She said: “One of my colleagues, decided that she would be interested in taking part in this challenge and thought it would be a good idea to see if anyone else would like to join in. Of course, everyone jumped at the idea and it has now become a company-wide effort.
“The goal is for every individual person taking part to achieve 10,000 steps a day. It can be averaged out so if you are slightly under you can make up for it the next day.
“So, every single person is tracking their steps for the whole of March aiming to get 10,000 steps for each and every single day during the month.”
And there is a personal reason as to why Ms Stafford is taking part: she knows only too well the anguish and heartache that cancer can bring to a family.
“It seems to be quite dominant in my father’s family,” she explained.
“I’m not the only person – I think almost every person here has been affected by cancer in one way or another and we all wanted to come together in this challenge to raise money to support Cancer Research with their amazing work but also to bring awareness to everyone and how it can affect lives.”
The law firm, which has been a fixture of Wokingham since 1980, specialises in property and company law.
