Wokingham A travelled to the Royal Household for their Division One clash. The Household won by 94 shots to 68. Top rink for Wokingham was skipped by Gerry Deeves along with Len Cooke, Barry Woolley and Martin O’Connor who won their game by 10 shots. Wokingham skips first.

Kennet LV League (Over 55’s)

Wokingham A travelled to play Bracknell A in their Division 1 clash. Wokingham won the match by 46 shots to 44. Gerry Deeves along with Stuart Slocombe and Ken Richardson had a great victory winning by 10 shots. Wokingham skips first.

Bob Thompson 15 shots v P. Hawkins 17 shots

Gerry Deeves 20 shots v C. Peters 10 shots

Wokingham B entertained Bracknell B at the Reading Road green winning the match by 59 shots to 36. This was a resounding victory for Wokingham finishing the victors on each rink.

George Hayne 14 shots v S. Bushell 9 shots

Pat Cleary 24 shots v T. Falcos 17 shots

Colin Cleverly 21 shots v R. Ebage 10 shots

Wokingham C took on Wokingham D in this Division 3 clash. The match was won by Wokingham C by 78 shots to 37. Wokingham C skips first.

Brian Hoare 14 shots v Keith Roberts 14 shots

Thames Valley Ladies League

Wokingham Oakapples travelled to Great Hollands for their Division 2 clash in the TVLL. The Oakapples were on top form and won the match by 70 shots to 41. Top triple was skipped by Anne-Marie Murray along with Gen Hughes and Marie Fielding who won their game by 24 shots. Wokingham skips first.

Cyndy Price-Finnie 10 shots v S. Readings 23 shots

In a Division 1 clash between Wokingham Acorns and Caversham in Caversham, Acorns lost narrowly by 47 shots to 44. Wokingham skips first.

Sandra Thompson 15 shots v V. Fowkes 17 shots

Teresa O’Connor 15 shots v B. Wall 12 shots

Lillian Holliday 14 shots v T. Slark 18 shots.

 

Friendly Matches

Wokingham travelled to Burghfield for a Mixed Friendly match. Wokingham lost by one shot, 113 shots to 112. Top triple for Wokingham was skipped by Roger Dollery along with Alun Hughes and Linda Smith who won their game by 13 shots.

In a Men’s Friendly match away at Three Mile Cross, Wokingham defeated the home team by 115 shots to 62. Top triple for Wokingham was skipped by Pat Cleary along with John MacGregor and Kevin Walter who won by 21 shots.

Wokingham travelled to Palmer Park for a Mixed Friendly match and lost to the local team by 90 shots to 79.  Wokingham skips first.

Alan Taylor 14 shots v V. Gunns 11 shots

Paul Dollery 10 shots v J. Robertson 14 shots

Barry Woolley 8 shots v R. Nice 16 shots

Alex Thomson 10 shots v J. Hannah 20 shots

Ken Richardson 15 shots v P. Pillar 16 shots

Maiden Erlegh experienced a mixed bag of results throughout the week as their sides represented the club in their respective leagues and friendly fixtures.

21st May

Kennet League, saw MEBC travel away to Woodley. MEBC won comfortably on two of the four rinks and narrowly lost on the other two. Overall MEBC won 10-4 on points, with an overall 74-63 shot count. Rink scores were 21-14 , 20-12, 15-16, 18-21. Skips were Robin Rapley, Mike Fraser, Keith Hawkins and Frank Parkinson respectively.

22nd May

Oddfellows Triples League. MEBC hosted the match against Hurst. MEBC won four of the five rinks, taking 12 of the 14 points available. Overall score was 86-70. Individual rink scores were 20-11, 9-14, 20-15, 16-14, 21-16. Skips were Frank Parkinson, Keith Boulter, Mary Parkinson, Guy O’Connor and Anne Wilby respectively.

23rd May

KLV-C MEBC played at home against Suttons C team. MEBC were ultimately victorious winning on two of the three rinks. Overall score was 48-45, giving MEBC eight of the 10 points available. Individual rink scores were 17-13, 18-16, 13-18. Skips were Paul Dieppe, Frank Cunnington and Alan Ward respectively.

Also on the 23rd in the TVLL MEBC ladies played Woodley at home. MEBC couldn’t get the better of Woodley who were on fine form. Mary Parkinson was able to lead her rink to a 16-13 victory, but there were 9-22 and 8-22 losses on the other two rinks. With the final score 33 – 57, MEBC were only able to score two of the 10 points available.

24th May

KLV-C, MEBC B team put in another good performance when they travelled away to Hurst. The final score was extremely tight going MEBC’s way by just one shot at 48-47. With wins on two of the three rinks it was eight points for MEBC and two for Hurst. Rink scores were 22-14, 13-16, 12-18 and skips were Keith Boulter, Frank Parkinson and Stan Hughesdon respectively.

At the same time in the KLV-A, MEBC ‘A’ team hosted Great Hollands ‘A’. Despite a heavy loss on rink 1, MEBC recovered enough shots on rinks two and three to give them overall victory 54-44 shots, collecting eight of the 10 points. Individual rink scores were 14-24, 21-8, 19-12, and the skips were Guy O’Connor, Keith Hawkins and Mike Fraser respectively.

25th May

MEBC travelled away to Hagbourne for a weekend friendly. Hagbourne fielded a strong side, who put in a fine performance beating MEBC 72-103. Individual rink scores were 21-13, 10-28, 21-22, 7-27, 13-13, and the skips were Guy O’Connor, Frank Parkinson, Ray Pontet, Anne Wilby and Mary Parkinson.
