A CHARITY that encourages self-advocacy among people who have additional needs has every reason to be grateful for Wokingham’s avid readers.
CLASP was recently the recipient of a cheque from Tesco’s Wokingham superstore – the proceeds of donations to its community bookshelf scheme in January and February.
Shoppers are invited to donate books and also take them in exchange for a donation, which goes to good causes across the borough.
The store’s community champion, Louise Jedras, presented £280 to CLASP at a recent coffee shop drop-in session held in Wokingham Methodist Church’s Bradbury Centre.
Michelle Munro from CLASP said: “This is such good news, and we’re super grateful to Louise, the team at Tesco Wokingham and, of course, the Wokingham and wider community for donating and purchasing books to the Community Bookshelf too.”
Ms Jedras added: “The bookshelf enables Tesco customers to donate unwanted books or take a book and leave a donation, with the latest proceeds going to CLASP who work tirelessly to support adults with learning difficulties in the Wokingham area.
“I always have so much fun when I spend time with the CLASP members and it is an absolute pleasure to present these much-needed funds to them.”
