DR B’S CUSTOM and Classic annual bike show took place in Wokingham at the weekend.
Organised by Reading Christian Motorcyclists, the event was held at Highclose School.
Bikers and bike enthusiasts arrived to display their vehicles, and to enjoy viewing a range of classics and custom built bikes on show.
Vehicle judging was held at 1pm, with bike classes including: best under 250cc, best Brit, best custom, best engineering, best paintwork and brightwork, best oddball, and best of show.
The event, which is held every year in the school’s grounds, enjoyed warm weather, and a good crowd of visitors.
Denis Denmead, of Reading Christian Bikers said: “It was a fantastic day.
“We had a great turnout, and saw lots of new faces as well as older familiar ones.
“It’s a lovely, friendly, supportive crowd.”
Around 400 to 600 people visited during the day, to admire and compare the vehicles on display.
“There was a constant stream of families, some with children, and it was lovely to meet up with older people we’ve not seen since the pandemic,” said Mr Denmead.
Funds from the show go to Highclose School.
Run by children’s charity, Barnardos, the organisation focuses on improving its pupils’ self-esteem, fostering self-motivation and determination to succeed.
The young people are encouraged to take pride in their efforts and to enjoy belonging to the High Close community.
Reading Christian Motorcyclists organise Dr B’s Bike Show and Reading Toy Run, both of which raise money for the school.
“They comes to us with specific requests,” said Mr Denmead, “which we then aim to fund.
“We’ve been able to provide a new rest area garden, with flowers and vegetables, where youngsters at the school can take time out.
“And for the older school leavers, we pay for DVLC licences and driving lessons so that they can gain a skill that can be useful to them when they apply for jobs in the future.”
The Christian bikers have also funded pottery kilns for the school pupils to enjoy.
“These young people haven’t had the best of starts, so we are very pleased to support them with whatever they need,” said Mr Denmead.
