A WOODLEY pupil was seeing blue recently – with a big smile on her face.
Amber, who attends Rivermead Primary School, was able to present Sue Ryder Duchess of Kent Hospice with a cheque for £494.47 as a result of her fundraising efforts.
The talented youngster encouraged her classmates to take part in the charity’s Wear Blue For Sue initiative. This asked participants to choose a blue coloured item of clothing and wear it for the day.
Donations from the event will now help the Reading-based hospice which offers a range of palliative care options for people with life-changing cancer.
Amber was joined by classmate Summer to present the cheque to Sue Ryder’s Alison Edwards at a special assembly last Thursday.
And watching in the wings was Amber’s Mum Natasha Fairchild, who said: “Amber put forward a charity day to raise money for Sue Ryder Duchess of Kent Hospice.
“As well as Wear Blue For Sue, a cake sale also took place.
“In total the school raised £494.47, and this was all down to my daughter arranging this with the school.
“I couldn’t be more prouder of her.”
