A SHINFIELD care home launched a new festival for its residents and wider community to enjoy.
Parsons Grange on Westall Street opened its doors last Friday for the inaugural Country and Western Festival as the home celebrated Care Home Open Week.
The national initiative encourages residential homes to welcome members of the public to showcase what life in a care home is really like.
Guests took part in square dancing along to live country music, and were also treated to a hog roast prepared by the home’s head chef.
Speaking ahead of the event, Rozina Ali, home manager at Parsons Grange, said: “We have our dancing shoes – and cowboy boots – at the ready as we gear up to celebrate Care Home Open Week and get set to welcome summer in style.
“Here at Parsons Grange, we are always looking for new and exciting ways to support residents to lead fulfilling lives – and what better way to do that than to host our very own festival, as we pull out all the musical stops.
“We’re excited to open our doors to the community and welcome the people of Shinfield for what promises to be a truly memorable event.”
