Reading FC’s squad will be given a much needed boost after Ghana early exit from the Africa Cup of Nations 2022.
Full backs Andy Yiadom and Baba Rahman will return to join up with the Royals squad after their side were eliminated from the tournament in the group stages.
Having picked up just one point from their opening two group games, the Blackstars required a win to give them any hope of progressing to the knockout stages.
However, they started disastrously after Andre Ayew was given a red card.
After going 2-0 down to Comoros, Ghana made a spectacular recovery to level the game and give themselves hope.
But needing a winner to have any chance of staying in the competition, Ghana were caught out by a late winner for Comoros that saw them eliminated.
Yiadom, who joined Reading on a free transfer from Barnsley in 2018, plays a vital role in the Royals back line as one of the most experienced members of the squad.
During his absence, Reading have suffered some terrible results including a third-round exit in the FA Cup to non-league Kidderminster Harriers and a 7-0 thrashing at home to Fulham.
So his return to the squad, which may come as early as this weekend, will provide a boost to the squad.
Meanwhile, Rahman, who is on loan for the season from Chelsea has been a consistent figure since joining the team in the summer.
Rahman has made 18 appearances in the Championship so far this season, with young defender Ethan Bristow filling his place at left-back during his time at AFCON.
