THOUSANDS came to see the sights and sounds of the Swallowfield Show 2023 over the bank holiday weekend.
Visitors were treated to an action-packed programme of live entertainment, which featured motorbike displays, a marching band, falconry, and go-karting, as well as various horticultural and creative competitions.
Sara Creech, who was part of the organising team, said: “We had a very good year, with around 8,000 people coming in across the two days, which is 19% up from last year’s show.
“It was lovely to see so many visitors and receive so many positive comments about the show – people have really enjoyed it and the diversity of what was on offer. The aim is always to have something for everyone.”
The event saw visitors of all ages drop by, with some families represented by three generations, and their dogs.
Competition classes ranged from fruit and vegetables to artwork and baked goods. Organisers were delighted to receive just under 700 entries, roughly 100 more than last year, with 140 coming from children.
Sara said: “We’d like to say a big thank you to all the visitors that came, sponsors, traders and our volunteers, all of whom make the show happen.
“We run it as a good quality, traditional event with family entertainment to help raise money for local charities.”
