A new booklet has been published that looks back at bygone retailers in Wokingham town centre.
Written by Wokingham Society committee member Kevin Lunnon, the publication follows a trail that provides a walking route of local Wokingham shops, with photographs and illustrations, identifying current retail uses and looking back at past occupations.
Members of the public are encouraged to walk the trail and visit the traders, starting from the barber’s shop in Shute End and finishing at a restaurant in Market Place.
Copies of the booklet can be obtained from Wokingham town council’s Information Centre, and from Wokingham Library
Speaking to Wokingham Today at the launch event, Kevin said: “One of the aims of the publication is to get people walking, and secondly you to get people to look and see.
“We hope some people going around will actually go into the shops, and maybe buy something.”
