A 78th minute Tia Primmer goal helped Reading Women to consecutive wins in the WSL Championship, defeating Lewes 1-0.
Having struggled to make inroads on Lewes’ goal in the opening stages of the match, the Royals began dominating the encounter and supporters at the Select Car Leasing Stadium were delighted to see Primmer capitalise on good work from Sanne Troelsgaard to secure three points.
Here’s how the players fared:
Emily Orman 7: Confident when claiming the ball and tidy with the ball at her feet. Wasn’t afraid to step up and receive the ball from her defenders.
Rachel Dugdale 6: Never fully got on top of her duel with Anna Grey, who was Lewes’ main outlet throughout the first half.
Easther Mayi Kith 7: Defended resolutely, using her body well to shield the ball and wriggle out of tight situations. Tried to bring the ball out from the back but passing options were often limited.
Brooke Hendrix 6: Put in a solid shift and supported Woodham well defensively.
Lily Woodham 6: Tried to get forward as much as possible, but was sensible not to give Reanna Blades too much space to run into down Reading’s left.
Deanna Cooper 5: A quiet display from the defensive midfielder. Worked hard but couldn’t influence the game. Was replaced by Troelsgaard.
Halle Houssein 6: Showcased her range of passing when given time on the ball. Made some smart defensive interventions to start some attacks.
Freya Gregory 6: Worked hard and had two solid strikes on goal saved by Whitehouse on either side of the interval.
Tia Primmer 8: At the centre of Reading’s attacks and the team’s best player on the day. Was tenacious in all aspects of the game.
Josie Longhurst 7: Was presented with a couple of chances and did well to get attempts away. Got through a lot of unselfish running, pulling defenders away to create space for others.
Lauren Wade 6: Forced Whitehouse into an acrobatic save in the second half with a lovely strike from the edge of the box. An otherwise measured performance.
