As Wokingham’s Conservative Parliamentary Candidate, I have hit the ground running with our General Election campaign.
We have been meeting residents to share my priorities as your prospective Member of Parliament.
I am focused on investing in a vibrant local economy, supporting our local services and protecting our green spaces. I offer a bright new future for Wokingham — in contrast to the Liberal Democrat candidate, who has failed residents on Wokingham Borough Council for years, by cutting local services, hiking taxes and threatening to concrete over our green spaces.
Earlier this month, I joined thousands of residents for Party In The Park in Wokingham, a wonderful community event showcasing local musical talent. I met many residents in Elms Field, including brave Ukrainian refugees who have made Wokingham their home.
The next day, I met with our Conservative Police and Crime Commissioner to discuss Conservatives’ increasing investment in neighbourhood policing and our successful track record reducing local crime.
On Monday, June 3, I welcomed the Prime Minister to the north of our constituency, at Leander Club, where we met with inspiring young female rowers who show great dedication to their sport, the team and their community.
Every day I have been out talking to residents on the doorstep, listening to their views on the issues that matter to them. It has been fantastic to talk to people from all over the constituency – across Wokingham town, Aborfield Green, Winnersh, Finchampstead, Spencer’s Wood, Hurst and Wargrave.
On the Wednesday, I visited Wade Day Centre, an amazing local charity offering friendship and community for people over 60 in Wokingham and surrounding areas.
I also met with fantastic local businesses on the high street, including Joy Cafe which serves a delicious cortado.
On Thursday, June 6, I paused campaigning to attend D-Day commemorations across Wokingham, Crowthorne and Finchampstead – joining veterans, the Royal British Legion and the wider local community.
I am a serviceman’s daughter and believe deeply in the importance of remembering those who fought so bravely to defend our freedom from tyranny.
Also on Thursday, I joined Wokingham In Need for gardening at Wokingham Community Hospital, a green sanctuary for people in times of need.
On Friday, I attended the lively Twyford Beer Festival in support of men’s cancer charity, Orchard.
Everyone in the community has been so kind and receptive to the opportunity to elect a bright new MP for Wokingham.
