Former government minister Robert Jenrick was pounding the streets of Earley this afternoon (Wednesday).
The previous minister of state for immigration, secretary of state for housing, communities and local government, and minister of state for health, was lending his support to Pauline Jorgensen, the Conservative candidate for Woodley and Earley.
He spent more than an hour, along with party supporters, engaging with residents in Rowland Way, Flaxman Close and Harcourt Drive.
Speaking exclusively to Wokingham Today, he said: “I wanted to come here to support Pauline, who is someone I’ve known for some time, and has a great reputation.
“I hope she gets elected because this area has a history of being represented by very strong individuals, whether it’s Sir John Redwood or Teresa May next door.
“It deserves a competent, experienced member of parliament who will focus on the local issues.”
He added: “People know Pauline because of her record as a local councillor, and it’s clear that she’s always been very accessible and approachable, whether it’s giving her mobile phone and email address to people, or being on top of the local issues, from potholes to local schools.
“I think that’s what people want from a member of parliament.”
