Reading FC manager Ruben Selles reflected on the team’s win over Huddersfield Town and thanked fans for their ‘respectful’ protests.
The Royals fans held up red cards in the 18th minute urging the Dai family to sell the club more than a year since they first put it up for sale.
Reading came back from a goal down with strikes from Harvey Knibbs and Ben Elliott to take the points.
“We are happy we could finally get three points. It was a competitive game. Even after going 1-0 down we felt we could do more in the game,” said Selles.
“We have been demanding ourselves to be more robust. Immediately after we conceded we started to play a bit more.
“The goal came from a good action in the final third where we won a couple of counter presses and Harvey (Knibbs) was exceptional in that action.”
Speaking on the protests, Selles continued: “I think the main thing with the fans and the team and the staff is to focus on football. We know everything that is around. The more we can focus on the game, the better
“We are more focused on what we can do. The fans were very respectful and were supportive to us – that’s the way we need to continue going.
“I don’t remember a period where it hasn’t been stressful in the last 17 months. That’s the reality.
“Victories always help, but we have talked many times that we need to keep focused in ourselves. We just do what we can do.
“The more we can do that, the better we will be as a football club.”
Full-back Kelvin Abrefa came off with what looked like an injury, but the Royals boss confirmed that he is ok saying: “No, no it wasn’t an injury. It’s normal because he hasn;t played in the first team much and came in for the 50 minutes against Bolton.
“We expected him to be tired in the game. We know Amadou (Mbengue) can play every position in the back four and moved him out there and Harlee (Dean) made a fantastic performance at centre-back.”
