TO HIGHLIGHT World Autism Awareness Day, Wokingham Autism Partnership is hosting an afternoon of activities, workshops and information stalls.
Who can take part?
Everyone is welcome, whether neurodivergent, autistic, or with autism.
People may be diagnosed, self-identifying, waiting for an assessment, or just exploring.
Or they may be a parent, partner, family member, friend, carer, educator, or health, care or service provider.
Interested colleagues, neighbours, local businesses and community groups are also welcomed to find out more.
What will I find?
On the day information stalls will outline support, services and activities available locally to support neurodivergent people and their families.
And borough charities and support groups will also be on hand, as well as representatives from Wokingham Borough Council Children & Adult Services and local NHS Health services.
For those who love to build, Brickies Lego will offer opportunities for young and old to enjoy.
And a number of workshops, including on Communication (with ASD Family Help), and on Sensory Differences (with Autism Berkshire), will run throughout the afternoon.
These can be signed up for on the day.
Visitors can also learn about Wokingham Borough Council’s Autism Strategy for the next four years, its plans for the coming year, and how to get involved in helping shape those plans.
The event is hosted by The Autism Partnership of organisations, groups and individuals in Wokingham Borough.
Where is the event?
It will take place at The Oakwood Centre, Woodley, on Wednesday, April 2.
Doors are open from 2pm until 7pm.
It’s free to enter, but people are asked to pre-book tickets online for all members of their party.
Refreshments will be available, and there is also an opportunity to enter a competition to design a logo for the Autism Partnership, open to all who live, go to school or work in the borough.
