A plan for hundreds of more homes between the Bracknell and Wokingham border is set to be approved.
Plans are moving ahead for South Wokingham Strategic Development, which will see 2,500 homes built along with two new primary schools, shops and neighbourhood centres.
Due to the scale of the plans, it has been chunked down into smaller phases covering different areas of land.
The latest chunk up for decision is for 343 homes on agricultural land to the south of Waterloo Road and William Heelas Way.
The area will be bound to the north-west and north-east by roads set to be constructed as part of the master plan.
It will be close to Britton’s Farm, to the north-west of the site, which has a Grade II-listed farmhouse and Grade II-listed barn.
Homes would be a mixture in size, ranging from one-bedroom apartments to five-bedroom houses. A total of 35 per cent will be affordable.
For open market homes, plans propose 20 one-bedroom apartments, 11 two-bedroom apartments, 24 two-bedroom houses, 116 three bedroom-houses, 46 four-bedroom houses and just six five-bedroom houses.
This means a total of 223 homes that would not be available under social rent, affordable rent or shared ownership.
For affordable homes, 70 are proposed to be socially rented, 14 affordable rented and 36 under shared ownership.
Much of the South Wokingham Strategic Development has already been completed, including new homes in Montague Park, as well as Montague Floreat Primary school and a neighbourhood centre.
Proposals for the development south of the Railway, which runs between Reading and London Waterloo, are in the planning application process.
Other plans in the works are for phase 2a of the development, made up of 215 homes, and phase 2b, which includes 1,495 homes, a primary school, local centre and play areas.
The 343 homes fall under Phase 2b of the plans.
Bracknell Forest Council is being consulted on the plans due to the proximity of the homes to the borough’s border.
The neighbouring council had previously refused to support the latest chunk of homes on land west of Wokingham Road and south of Waterloo Road.
Giving comments on separate plans for 180 and 95 homes, Bracknell Forest Council said it objected to both.
Regarding the 180 homes, the authority said plans had not provided an assessment of the potential impacts on the transport network.
For the 95 homes plan, Bracknell Forest Council said it would have a ‘harmful urbanising impact’.
The South Wokingham distributor road, which will link William Heelas Way and London Road to Easthampstead Road, is currently under construction, and is expected to finish by the end of 2026.
Wokingham Borough Council is yet to make a decision on the latest chunk of homes.
