“It’s about just trying to keep the levels right.
“I try to be fair to everybody in the house, whether one MP for a single party or whether you’ve got multiple MPs. I try to treat everybody equally.”
Sir Lindsay is also known for having a menagerie of pets named after former prime ministers.
He said:” We’ve got Maggie the tortoise, with a hard shell and who is not for turning.
”We’ve got Boris the parrots. He repeats himself a lot, and his feathers are all over the place.
“We have also got the cats, Clem and Atlee.”

\He said: “When someone comes to visit, they’re always asking if they can meet the cats.
