Work will soon be starting on the new district centre at Arborfield Green, which will include 18 shop units along with more than 200 homes and other amenities.

The site, off Nine Mile Ride Extension, was previously owned by the Ministry of Defence as part of the former Arborfield Garrison.

It was sold to developer Taylor Wimpey.

The first shops will be completed next year, at the earliest and anyone interested in renting one should contact Crest Nicholson, who helped arrange the sale.

Wokingham borough council also recently gave permission for a neighbourhood centre with two shops, 18 flats and a public square at the nearby Finchwood Park development.

Cala Homes aims to start work on this later in the year.
