A multi academy trust (MAT) with schools in Berkshire has been named MAT of the year at the National School awards.
King’s Group Academies (KGA) was recognised for exceptional growth and transformative student outcomes.
They operate King’s Academy Prospect, King’s Academy Binfield, King’s Academy Easthampstead Park and King’s Academy Meadow Vale.
Judges noted the academic success of individual schools in the MAT.
Despite growing from 9 to 15 academies, the MAT was able to elevate educational standards across the board, judges noted.
The award commended KGA’s International Dimension programme which sees the MAT partner with over 35 schools from across the globe. It noted the MATs forward-thinking Digital and AI Strategy, which has seen staff and students receive over 4,000 Chromebooks.
Judges also praised the use of tools like Gemini to help with student personalised learning and staff workload reduction.
There are also many wellbeing initiatives like the DfE Fidelity-checked Early Career Teacher Programme, comprehensive staff support hubs, and a dedicated focus on safeguarding, inclusion, and a 5.5% reduction in persistent absence.
CEO Nick Cross said: “Winning ‘MAT of the Year’ is not just an award for past achievements; it is validation of our foundational belief: that every child deserves Opportunity and Success on a Global Stage.
“It recognizes the unwavering commitment of our staff who embody our values of honesty, faith, and courage every day.
“We are incredibly proud, but our work continues — this success fuels our mission to innovate and expand our impact for future generations of learners.
He added: “This award is a testament to the collective dedication of our pupils, staff, and leaders.
“It validates our belief that by building resilient structures and fostering a culture of innovation, we can ensure every child, regardless of background, is prepared to thrive on a global stage.”
