Wokingham have finished third in Home Counties Premier 2 following a final day defeat to Amersham.
Due to second-placed Datchet’s 83-run win over Harefield, the Oaks’ result proved to be academic as they ended 21 points off a promotion spot.
Wokingham got off to a shocking start against Amersham, losing both openers Stuart Parsons (0) and Archie Carter (4) early.
James Bird (9) soon followed, but Dan Housego was finishing the season with a flourish.
He was eventually caught having scored a brilliant 123, with 14 boundaries from 145 deliveries.
But those around him could not match the heights with the scoreboard looking unhealthy at 78-4.
Jack Wood (29) and Michael Bates (16) were the best of the rest as Wokingham batted out their 50 overs with a score of 240-7.
In response, Amersham produced a composed innings.
All eight of their batsmen made it into double figures with Robert Viney (54) and Bruce Friderichs (33no) the leading scorers for the hosts.
Spinner Paul Dewick (4-61) was the pick of the Wokingham bowlers, but Amersham crossed the winning line in the 49th over with four wickets in hand.
Housego ends as Wokingham’s top scorer this season with 905 runs while Parsons (449) and Bird (360) round off the top three.
Iain Muirden took 38 wickets, comfortably clear of Lewis Sharp (31) and Dewick (23).

Meanwhile, FINCHAMPSTEAD rounded off their season with victory over Banbury.
Finches secured their Home Counties Premier 1 safety a few weeks ago but they ended on a high note to end in seventh.
Banbury’s Lloyd Sabin’s knock of 127 and 62 from John West put Banbury in a good position after the first innings with a score of 268-6 as Darron Augustus, Zafar Ali and Josh Lincoln all took two wickets.
But the hosts impressed with the bat themselves. After falling to 9-2, Greg Smith (63) and Simon Bell (102no) put Finches back in the contest.
Ryan Quinn (64) also contributed well as the hosts reached their target in 48.2 overs to win by four wickets.
Despite missing the final four games of the season, Dan Lincoln ends as Finchampstead’s top run scorer with 667 with Smith (480) and Adam Dewes (411) also in the top three.
Josh Lincoln’s 20 wickets were a team best, just ahead of much-improved Augustus (19) and James Woodford (16).
