A WOKINGHAM school is celebrating as its new vision has been rewarded with strong praise from Ofsted.
Two years ago, Keep Hatch Primary School in Ashridge Road was judged to have been in need of improvements, but a new inspection – released earlier this month – reveals that the school is now Good.
The report said that “Pupils enjoy their learning. They behave well in lessons and around the school. They are polite and respectful to both adults and each other”.
It also noted that the turnaround has come about because of the way in which the school’s parents have been helping out.
Ofsted said: “Parents are highly supportive of the school. They recognise the positive changes already brought about by the present leadership team.”
There was also praise for the school’s new executive headteacher, Chris Cole, and headteacher Claire Appleby, who were judged to have taken robust action to improve the quality of education, a process monitored by the governors. The pair have only been in their positions since May last year.
Mrs Appleby said: “It’s a fantastic outcome for the school. The result is a real reflection of all of the hard work of the whole team of staff and really proves how well our children are learning at Keep Hatch and how they have improved their attitudes to learning.
“We are so proud of the children, the curriculum inspires children to learn and ensures that all children do well.
“Eighteen months ago we established a new vision for the school and this has been a real turning point for the education provision.
“Having such a committed team of staff has allowed the journey to be as successful as it has. We are glad that Ofsted share our view that Keep Hatch is a great place to come to school and provides a safe, enthusiastic and engaging learning environment for our pupils.”
