A CONCERT from one of the borough’s top bands has been judged to be a success.
Last month, members of Trinity Concert Band performed at All Saints Church in Wokingham.
They were joined for the occasion by vocal duet Indigo May, who are regular performers on P&O and Cunard cruise liners.
Organisers said that they were warmly received by an enthusiastic audience at the packed church and that the concertgoers enjoyed a concert brimming with well-known music, including music from West Side Story, and pieces by rock band Queen.
The concert band’s musical director, Paul Speed, said: “It was great to return to All Saints Church for our annual Spring Concert, and a real privilege to perform alongside the incredibly talented Indigo May.
“This is the first time the band has accompanied a vocal duet and, given the positive feedback, we look forward to joining forces with Julie and Meinir again in the future.
“We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, and the reception we received from the Wokingham audience was just wonderful.”
But now, the Earley-based band are preparing for their summer concert, which will take place on Saturday, June 8 at Leighton Park School in Shinfield.
This will be a celebration of the Queen’s birthday, and they are promising that the programme will be fit for Her Majesty to enjoy. Should she wish to drop in, she will be eligible for the band’s Newcomers Scheme – this enables people who have never visited a Trinity Concert Band concert before to enjoy the music free of charge.
“How amazing is that?” said the group’s publicity office Joanne Neale.
“We are excited to announce another change to our ticketing. Students can now get tickets to our concerts for the greatly reduced price of £7 – under 16s still get free entry.”
The summer concert programme will include regal delights such as Crown Imperial, Fanfare for the Common Man and 633 Squadron, concluding with a traditional Proms-style finale.
