A WOKINGHAM church’s coronation events will bring the community together.
The group is planning to have fun together, tidy up the churchyard and give one of its buildings a boost.
All Saints Church’s free events include watching the Coronation together, enjoying a picnic in the park, and helping out with a church tidy up.
As part of the nation’s Big Lunch celebrations, activities will take place over three days.
On Saturday, people can watch the coronation with friends at The Cornerstone, with a light lunch.
The following day a Coronation Big Lunch picnic with children’s activities will take place in nearby Elizabeth Park.
And as part of the nationwide Big Help Out, volunteers will gather to tidy the churchyard and spruce up The Cornerstone building on Monday.
Everyone is welcome to join any or all of the events.
Associate Priest, The Reverend Hannah Higginson said: “ The coronation is a great opportunity to bring the community together and we invite everyone along to the events we have planned for the weekend.
Our screening of the coronation service will take place in the Cornerstone and should be a nice opportunity for anyone who might otherwise be watching it home alone, to come along and share this memorable occasion with others.
“And we invite everyone to join us in the park on Sunday.
“Bring your own picnic, and celebrate the coronation with friends and neighbours.”
The coronation viewing with light lunch takes place on Saturday, May 6 at 10.30am.
The group’s picnic in Elizabeth Park, Wokingham, starts at noon on Sunday, May 7.
And the big tidy-up takes place in the All Saints churchyard and Cornerstone building on Monday, May 8, from 11am through to 3pm.
Those helping with the churchyard tidy are asked to bring gardening tools if they have them.
