A TWYFORD-based charity that helps the borough’s older population has been picked for year-long support from a nearby garden centre.
Staff at Dobbies in Hare Hatch voted to give their backing to Age Concern Twyford.
Over the next 12 months, they will be able to receive tools, seeds and support to help transform their green spaces, indoors and out.
More than 660 groups applied to the Dobbies Community Gardens scheme, and each store picked its own charity earlier this month.
The Age Concern team will receive a special session to launch the year, and the commitment includes volunteer hours.
Nick Anderson, Dobbies’ operations director, is thrilled with the response to the community gardens scheme.
“We are really pleased to have had so many community groups get in touch looking for support with their green spaces,” he said.
“The Hare Hatch store had the responsibility of picking a community group to back this year, choosing Age Concern Twyford as its winner. We’re looking forward to seeing this outdoor green space flourish over the year.”
