Works at California crossroads are set to move to phase two this week, with paving and kerbs within the current closure set to be finished this week.
The raised pedestrian crossing outside the Ratepayers Hall will also be completed before the switch, and signage will be in place in regards to changes to road closures and diversions.
As part of its regular updates, Wokingham Borough Council said: “The team has continued to install block paving between Londis Red Oak Store and the California Ratepayers Hall, and the footways and kerb lines are really starting to take shape. Drainage works for phase one are now complete.
“They have also been making preparations for the phase two switch over on May 23, liaising with local businesses, schools and bus companies to ensure a smooth transition.”
From May 23, phase two of the crossroads improvement project will start, and the sections of Nine Mile Ride and Finchampstead Road that are currently closed will reopen.
“We then plan to close Finchampstead Road from Wild Acres Rest Home to the crossroads, but access to Avery car park and adjacent shops will remain open from the Wild Acres Rest Home.”
Nine Mile Ride will also be closed from the junction of Wick Hill Lane to the crossroads. This change will happen between 10pm on Wednesday May 22, and 5am on Thursday May 23.
Access will be maintained to residential properties within the closure.
Further details on the road closure and diversion routes can be found on the Wokingham Borough Council website, and signage will be in place along the diversion routes.
