A property developer has applied to Wokingham Borough Council to vary the terms of its Section 106 agreement for the provision of affordable housing.
Vistry Thames Valley is the developer of the Matthewsgreen Farm residential development in Emmbrook under its Linden Homes brand.
Part of its obligations when granted permission for the development in 2015 was to provide a number of properties that are deemed to be “affordable”.
A spokesperson for Vistry Thames Valley told Wokingham Today: “We have submitted an application to Wokingham Council to amend the tenure of the final block of affordable homes to be delivered at Copsewood.
“This application has been made at the request of the housing association we are looking to partner with, as they feel the mix of units proposed within this block is not currently viable for them.
“We have applied to change four of the apartments from low-cost rent to shared ownership properties. These homes will still be affordable and will be offered to those with a local connection.
“These apartments are part of the wider Matthewsgreen Farm development which has been built out by Vistry Thames Valley, and will provide a total of 772 new homes for Wokingham, 193 of which are affordable.
“With the proposed changes to the tenure mix, the site will deliver 84 shared ownership homes and 109 homes for low-cost rent through the planning agreement.”
The developer also said it had paid £6.2million towards the off-site provision or regeneration of affordable housing within Wokingham.”
Building started at Copsewood in 2017, and the development is a mix of two-, three-, four- and five-bedroom homes alongside public open space.
