IN a game of good goals, nine goal scorers and poor defending, Woodley came away from Ascot having scored four goals, had a number of missed chances but no points.
The game started well for the visitors with Rosie Page-Smith opening the scoring in the eleventh minute when following a throw in she fired home from the edge of the penalty area past ex Woodley keeper Lisa Phillips to open the scoring.
However, the lead was short lived with the hosts equalising through Lauren Broadhurst four minutes later when Woodley failed on a number of occasions to clear a corner kick.
Woodley were not deterred and an excellent five minute spell of pressure resulted in Rebecca Gooch restoring the lead in the twenty fifth minute when she capitalised on the home team’s own failure to clear a corner kick.
A minute later Gooch saw a goal disallowed for offside.
Six minutes before half time Ascot United levelled through Emma Hutton and three minutes later had the lead when hesitation by the Woodley defence saw Jen Thraves score from close range. A fine block on the stroke of half time prevented Freya Jenkins from levelling.
Three minutes into the second half Jade Scott levelled after a good move saw the ball played to her on the right allowing her to run at goal and shoot.
Again Ascot responded with Hutton pouncing on another loose ball following a corner in the fifty first minute.
The game went from end to end with Jenkins again denied and the hosts extending their lead on the hour mark through Hannah Evans following a cross.
Jenkins got her goal with fourteen minutes remaining and Woodley pushed for the equaliser creating but failing to convert chances but succumbed to a sixth goal a minute into stoppage time by Katie Vince.
