CROWTHORNE Musical Players will shortly begin rehearsing their next production.
The group is looking for performers, both youngsters and adults, keen to sing and dance in The Spongebob Musical, to be performed in March.
Director and choreographer Caroline Webb, said: “This is such a fun, vibrant, and colourful all singing, all dancing stage show.
“It’s absolutely not just a two dimensional caricature of the children’s cartoon, it’s a show for everyone to enjoy.”
The story takes place at Bikini Bottom, where the community is living in fear of a volcano about to destroy their homes.
Spongebob and his friends must pull together to rescue their neighbours and their undersea world.
“It presents a very positive message about repairing community division, and the way we respond to disaster,” she continued.
“It’s a great story, with fantastic music, about a yellow sponge with a pet snail – what’s not to love?”
Musical numbers include songs by various artists, including: David Bowie, John Legend, Panic At The Disco, and Cyndi Lauper.
Inclusivity and diversity are strong themes in the show, elements which Caroline feels strongly should be reflected in the casting.
“It doesn’t matter what people’s body type, gender, age or background, we’re moving away from social norms in our casting,” she said.
“Crowthorne Musical Players is a very friendly and welcoming group.”
Young people aged nine and upwards, as well as adults, are encouraged to audition for Spongebob The Musical, which will be the company’s main show of 2025.
It will take place at The Wilde Theatre, South Hill Park, Bracknell, from Wednesday, March 5 through to Saturday, March 8.
A show preview night where people can find out more about the production, will take place at Crowthorne Parish Hall, on Thursday, September 26, at 8pm.
Audition workshops will take place at The Methodist Church Hall, Crowthorne, on Sunday, October 6, from 1pm.
