AVANTI West Coast trains has announced that it expects a high likelihood of cancellations across its network on Saturday, January 28.
The company has said that due to “unseasonably high” levels of staff shortages it is expecting services to be extremely busy and has warned that many services may be cancelled.
Customers, especially those attending the Reading FC fixture against Manchester United on Saturday, are asked to check their journeys before travelling.
Anyone who no longer wishes to travel can claim refunds, though tickets for the affected date will also be valid for Friday, January 27, and Sunday, January 29.
Avanti has cited the “exceptional amounts of leave being taken this month, together with staff training which couldn’t be postponed.”It also says that the situation has been “made worse” by strike days and their subsequent effect on scheduled leave and training.
