HUNDREDS of people flocked to Bearwood Recreation Ground on Saturday, June 17, to enjoy a fun day out.
Winnersh Parish Council organised its annual summer fete, and they couldn’t have asked for better weather as the sun shone throughout.
The event was centred around an arena where there were a variety of entertainment including maypole dancing from Bearwood Primary School, dancing from The Dance Zone, football drills from Winnersh Rangers, and competitions including wheelbarrow races and a tug of war.
There was a presentation to three Winnersh Civic Award winners for their volunteer work in the local community.
One went to Harry Peksa, who has been busy litter picking around Winnersh, Graham Clifford who has worked on resolving issues relating to the Hatch Farm development and Nadine Chapman Shave who is the leader of 1st Winnersh Beavers group.
These awards were presented by Wokingham Borough Council Mayor Cllr Beth Rowland.
The first citizen also presented the medals and trophies to the winners of the tug of war and wheelbarrow races.
Live music came from from saxophone group, Saxcelrate.
Other activities included a bouncy castle, archery, model war gaming, and a model railway. Children could try their hand at juggling and other fun activities courtesy of Circus Scene.
Refreshments were from stalls operated by St Mary the Virgin, Winnersh, Gorilla Graze Box, and a the 1st Winnersh Scout group, who organised a barbecue.
The event raised funds for The Link Visiting Scheme and First Days Children’s Charity.
