A team of 15 volunteers took part in a community litter pick across Sonning and Charvil, collecting 25 bags of rubbish, as well as various car parts and several large fly-tips.
The clean-up, organised by Cllr Sam Akhtar who represents Thames Ward on Wokingham borough council, focused on litter hotspots including roadside laybys and footpaths.
Sam was shocked to discover bags of human faeces dumped in a layby, alongside other unpleasant and hazardous waste.
He said: “Finding that kind of waste was deeply unpleasant and completely unacceptable.
“It highlights just how important it is to tackle fly-tipping and hold people accountable.”
In addition to general litter, the team cleared tyres, vehicle parts, and household rubbish.
The clean-up not only improved the look of the area but also helped reduce environmental and public health risks.
Sam added: “It was brilliant to see so many people come together to do something positive for the community.
“There’s a real sense of pride in our local area, and events like this show the impact we can make together.”
More clean-up events are being planned, and local residents are encouraged to get involved.
