A WOKINGHAM theatre will welcome back a popular tribute band this month.
Very Beautiful South returns to The Whitty Theatre at the end of May, in an event organised for a second year by The Wokingham Music Club, which brings live music to Wokingham every month, organised by Wokingham Lions Club.
Very Beautiful South’s nine-piece band will play sing-along classics: Perfect 10, Rotterdam, A Little Time and Don’t Marry Her.
The group promises to take the audience back to the heady days of 90s chart hits, quirky lyrics and the alternative pop-rock sound of The Beautiful South.
Helping to recreate the original sound are ‘uncannily Heaton and Abbott-esque’ vocals from singers Andy and Lisa.
“This is our first time playing a matinee show here, as evening tickets sold out almost immediately after last year’s success,” said Andy.
“And for anyone who missed the recent Paul Heaton tour, this is definitely a show not to be missed.
“The only difference is that we can’t afford to put loads of money behind the bar for our audience – but we do promise a great time nevertheless.”
The event will take place at The Whitty Theatre, in Luckley House School Grounds, on Saturday, May 31, at 2.30pm and at 7.30pm.
The evening show is sold out, but tickets for the matinee, costing £22, are still available.
