Forty business leaders in Berkshire have completed a 60‑hour Level 3 Skills Bootcamp in AI for Business, designed to give practical, commercially focused training in artificial intelligence.
The programme, delivered by The Growth Academy and funded through the government’s Skills Bootcamp initiative, was completed at the end of January. It aimed to help participants move from uncertainty about AI to practical application in their businesses.
The course, developed by The AI Advantage Academy and led by AI educator Emma Shephard, focused on real-world use rather than theory. Participants learned to:
– Understand AI fundamentals in clear, business-focused terms
– Use generative AI tools responsibly
– Automate routine tasks
– Improve productivity and operational efficiency
– Identify commercial opportunities for AI within SMEs
Participants reported that the bootcamp had a transformative impact on their confidence and business operations. One graduate said it had “turned my fear of AI into confidence” and helped implement time- and cost-saving processes. Others described the programme as “invaluable” and “hugely valuable, well‑constructed and expertly delivered.”
Steve Bulley, Head of The Growth Academy, said the programme demonstrated strong demand for practical AI skills. He added: “We have now supported 83 businesspeople to gain comprehensive AI skills. This is about raising capability, confidence and competitiveness across our business community.”
Skills Bootcamps in AI for Business are available to self-employed individuals and employees, with funding subject to availability. The Growth Academy is now accepting expressions of interest for the 2026/27 cohort, though places are expected to be limited.
