A VILLAGE primary school is celebrating, following the remarkable generosity of a Finchampstead business.
Datanet Installation Services UK Ltd has donated 20 laptops and an IT trolley to Finchampstead C of E Primary School – a gift that will enable pupils to access all aspects of the curriculum.
Just a few days ago, Wokingham.Today shared that the school had launched a fundraising campaign to raise £10,000 for essential new equipment.
Finchampstead C of E Primary School is a small community, where all of the school’s 120 pupils know each other.
“It makes for a warm and nurturing environment for the children,” explained Alison Wilde, chair of Friends of Finchampstead School Association (FOFSA), “but being small can make raising money for a major purchase difficult.”
Following an unsuccessful funding application, FOFSA set up a GoFundMe page, and appealed to the community for help.
Luke Bosworth, director of Datanet Installation Services UK Limited saw the request and immediately got in touch with headteacher, Mrs Jacquie Vanstone.
To her delight, he offered all of the 20 units and an IT trolley.
Luke Bosworth said: “Schools are struggling at the moment, and we wanted to do something nice in our local community.
“We’re pleased we were able to help out, and we hope the children can enjoy and make good use of the laptops.”
Jacquie Vanstone said: “We are blown away by Datanet Installation Services’ generosity.
“These laptops will make such a difference to teaching and learning across the whole school and the whole curriculum.”
The units have already been delivered to the school, ready for installation.
Alison Wilde added: “Datanet has given us an absolutely amazing gift, which reduces our fundraising target considerably.
“We will still need to pay for installation and set up costs (which have to be done by a school IT provider), but it means we have been able to reduce our fundraising goal to approximately £2,000.
“We have announced the good news to our school community, and we are all so happy.
“We can’t quite believe it.”
Jacquie Vanstone agreed.
“We are delighted our children have fantastic new laptops to use which will enhance their learning opportunities and their progress.
“Support from our community is vital for our school development – and this donation is phenomenal.
“Thank you to all at Datanet installation Services UK Ltd.”
