A NEW art and fashion exhibition has opened in Bracknell and is the ultimate in recycling.
The Lexicon’s Mannequins Upcycled has been created by students at Bracknell and Wokingham College, working on items that would have been destined for landfill.
Each mannequin is based on a month of the year, and sustainability with students incorporating donated upcycled materials into their designs.
The mannequins exhibition will remain in place until February 19 2024, and visitors are being asked to vote for their favourite.
The winning team will be awarded tickets to Cineworld and a meal at Five Guys, while voters will be entered into a draw to win a £100 gift card of their choice.
Sue Boor, head of marketing at The Lexicon said: “The students have excelled with their designs. Both the creative thinking and practical implementation have resulted in a spectacular art exhibit for the town centre.”
This was echoed by Sue Dew-Gosling, creative arts lecturer at Activate Learning, who said it has been a great project.
“The students have had a fabulous opportunity to show their creative skills in this live project, upcycling materials and using their ingenuity to make colourful seasonal designs,” she said.
And the leader of Bracknell Forest Council, Cllr Mary Temperton, was delighted with the team-up between the college and shopping centre.
“It’s wonderful to see The Lexicon providing an opportunity for students in the borough to show their design skills. I love how they have used upcycled materials in their design,” she said.
