The opening of Bracknell’s new Lexicon shopping centre is now just weeks away and new car park pricing has been announced.
Bracknell Regeneration Partnership said that the charges for Princess Square Car Park will come into effect on Friday, September 1, with prices starting at 90p, but rising sharply to £10 for longer visits.
Under the new plans, Princess Square Car Park will become a short stay car park and Bracknell’s bosses said that it offers affordable parking for shoppers and visitors wishing to make short visits to The Lexicon.
The new charges:
- Up to 30 minutes – 90p
- 1 hour – £1.20
- 2 hours – £2
- 3 hours – £10
- All day – £20
Rob Morris, general manager at Bracknell Regeneration Partnership, said: “We are pleased to be able to offer shoppers visiting The Lexicon something a little different to other parking options in the town centre.
“The Princess Square Car Park with 530 spaces, is ideally located, and will offer extremely reasonable prices for short visits to the town centre.”
The final day of its current ‘Free From 3’ initiative, which sees free parking in Bracknell after 3pm, will be Thursday, August 31.
The Lexicon will be officially opened on Thursday, September 7, with the help of more than 150 local children from primary and junior schools across Bracknell Forest.
The children will countdown to the opening which will be marked with a fanfare of green, gold and silver streamers and leaf shaped confetti, cascading across The Lexicon’s walkways and squares.
Cllr Marc Brunel-Walker, executive member for economic development and regeneration for Bracknell Forest Council, said: “I’m immensely proud of our new town centre and everyone who has worked relentlessly since the start of the regeneration project to bring this vision to life.
“The wait is almost over and it’s only fitting that the opening of The Lexicon is a chance for everyone, whether living, working or visiting on the day, to come together and celebrate the town centre being given back to Bracknell.
“I, for one, can’t wait to be there watching our local children leading the celebrations. I look forward to seeing everyone on September 7.”
