POLICE had to be called in to manage traffic in Wokingham town centre on Monday lunchtime after a lorry broke down in Denmark Street.
This is currently the main route through the town due to the closure of Market Place for the regeneration works.
Police were directing traffic down Easthampstead Road as larger vehicles would have been unable to pass the lorry, which had stopped outside Mark Rath Residential estate agents.
The diversion sent traffic down Langborough Road, avoid the town centre altogether.
A recovery vehicle was called on to move the lorry out of the danger area.
The incident happened jn the morning and Thames Valley Police tweeted that the road was cleared by 3.25pm.
