HOMES in parts of Wokingham have been left without water after a water main burst this morning.
South East Water reported that the main burst this morning around 5.30am. It has flooded Barkham Road close to Wokingham station, leaving a large puddle on the road surface and causing delays on the roads.
Pavements have also been closed to enable workmen to access the mains pipes.

Staff are on site fixing the mains.
South East Water’s Regional Network Manager Steve Benton said: “We were alerted to a burst on a 6in diameter water main at 5.30am this morning.
“Our contractor was on site as quickly as possible and a repair is currently being carried out.
“Unfortunately emergencies like this do happen from time to time. Our underground network has to withstand high pressure, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
“Sometimes our pipes and connections fail and a burst occurs.
“We have a dedicated team out and about all the time looking for leaks and bursts on our network. However we are always grateful to members of the public who alert us to problems so we can deal with them quickly.
“Our Leakline number is 0333 000 3330 or Tweet us @sewateruk.”
South East Water is providing status reports on its website.
We will provide updates as we get them.
